چکیده
Emotion is assumed to change how people process information by modulating attentional focus. Two recent studies (Spachtholz et al., 2014; Xie & Zhang, 2016) reported that self-reported negative emotion boosted the precision with which was stored in visual working memory. Here we attempted and failed replicate these findings across seven conducted four countries. induced presenting emotional images (negative, neutral, positive) before each trial of a memory task (six experiments) or were combined music during 3-min induction phase (one experiment) occurring prior task. In task, participants (emotionally neutral) continuously varying colored dots oriented triangles. At test, color orientation probed item reproduced. Although changes their state commensurate manipulations, six experiments showed substantial evidence against (and quantity) under comparison whereas one condition, study, increased both positive compared neutral. These results challenge view modulates quality quantity. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2021 APA, all rights reserved).

Prospective memory, working memory, retrospective memory and self-rated memory performance in persons with intellectual disability
The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between prospective memory, working memory, retrospective memory and self-rated memory capacity in adults with and without intellectual disability. Individuals with intellectual disability performed at a lower level on most tasks compared to persons without intellectual disability, and the task performances were to a higher degree...
متن کاملA Neural Measure of Precision in Visual Working Memory
Recent studies suggest that the temporary storage of visual detail in working memory is mediated by sensory recruitment or sustained patterns of stimulus-specific activation within feature-selective regions of visual cortex. According to a strong version of this hypothesis, the relative "quality" of these patterns should determine the clarity of an individual's memory. Here, we provide a direct...
متن کاملDevelopment of visual working memory precision in childhood
Visual working memory (VWM) is the facility to hold in mind visual information for brief periods of time. Developmental studies have suggested an increase during childhood in the maximum number of complete items that can simultaneously be stored in VWM. Here, we exploit a recent theoretical and empirical innovation to investigate instead the precision with which items are stored in VWM, where p...
متن کاملHow Negative Emotion Enhances the Visual Specificity of a Memory
Some studies have suggested that emotion primarily increases memory for "gist," and does not enhance memory for detail. There are, however, some instances in which negative objects (e.g., snake, grenade) are remembered with more visual detail than neutral objects (e.g., barometer, blender). In the present functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study, we examined the encoding processes tha...
متن کاملNegative Emotion Enhances Memory Accuracy Behavioral and Neuroimaging Evidence
There have been extensive discussions about whether emotional memories contain more accurate detail than nonemotional memories do, or whether individuals simply believe that they have remembered emotional experiences more accurately. I review evidence that negative emotion enhances not only the subjective vividness of a memory but also the likelihood of remembering some (but not all) event deta...
